elevated greenways
A second level for gathering, shopping, entertainment and dining… a safe level without traffic.
Given the slope of the N&R site, the proximity of the Depot…
-
A level serving the perimeter of the stadium.
Concessions are great during the game. But imagine a level that is outside the stadium that could be open all the time. Another level of restaurant, bar, entertainment and retail above the street and away from the traffic. Whether there is a game going on or not.
-
A level for walking / gathering beyond games.
This elevated walking level could start in the Train Yard, the gathering court of the Depot and whatever restaurant, brewery or public market place anchors it. Extending from it, up and over Washington Street, it could circle the stadium and become the walking bridge through the buildings on the north end of the site. Just like the High Line on New York City’s reimagined elevated rail line. A safe, unexpected escape from the frantic city.
-
Free of traffic.
Walking, shopping, gathering to eat & drink… all without the cars and traffic. A calm safe gathering level. This could be a true destination in downtown Greensboro.
